If what the pastor says in this article (http://www.gbod.org/worship/default.asp?act=reader&item_id=25785) prevails in the UMC, then "Eastern Orthodoxy is looking better"!
Seriously, this music discussion is not going to go away. My wife and I do prefer liturgical, traditional worship and decry some of the changes since the last hymnal revision (the one in the '60s, thank you!). My church, Rose City Park UMC (in Portland, OR) has two services -- one billed as contemporary and the second one "traditional," though that one's more properly "blended."
I have gone to our contemporary service from time to time and have been moved in the spirit. Problem is, it too is becoming a bit stale -- too many "boomers" in the praise group and few young people. Amateur is a problem but young blood is sorely needed, to be sure.
