Covenant Preamble
Having been called by the mystery of God, using the gifts we have been given and empowered by our sense of
responsibility that recognizes the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, we pledge ourselves to living as
disciples; receiving grace for ourselves and others through acts of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion; and
developing a lifelong practice of carrying out these acts of grace so that we may all grow in love and harmony. With
God's grace and one another's help, we covenant to adhere to the following:
Acts of Compassion
I will be in contact at least four hours a month with people in need of compassion.
I will spend quality each day with those I love.
Acts of Justice
I will be involved with "Tying Nashville Together."
When I am aware of injustice anywhere, I will speak out.
Acts of Devotion
I will spend time daily reading the Bible, praying, doing devotionals, and listening to God.
I will simplify and balance my life to take better care of myself.
Acts of Worship
I will worship at church each week as I am able.
I will pray and warmly welcome those who are visiting or are new to our church.
I will pray for our discipleship group.
I will be consistent in giving of finances and will receive Communion at least once a month.
Spiritual Promptings and Warnings
I will obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit to serve God and my neighbor.
I will heed the warnings of the Holy Spirit not to sin against God and my neighbor.
Conclusion
Knowing that the grace of God works in each of us, I pray that my heart will be opened to God's presence, that
my eyes will be opened to see the sorrows and joys of God's creatures, and that my ears will be opened to hear
God's will so that I will have the strength to keep this covenant.
