Fall Semester 2004
Preamble
Called into being and empowered by the grace of God, we covenant to dedicate ourselves to a life that exemplifies Christ and the gospel. We offer our time, talents, abilities, and resources in obedience to the gospel, acknowledging our dependence upon God's grace and the power of the Holy Spirit.
As Christians, we acknowledge God's unconditional love and acceptance of all creation. God is alive in us and guides us on our journey of faith. With these things in mind, we will support and encourage one another in our efforts to follow God's plan for our lives. We will strive to recognize God as strength, salvation, love, peace, inspirer, comforter, friend, hope, joy. In order to more fully develop our relationship with God, we covenant to do the following:
Clauses
Act of Compassion
- We will practice listening to other people as a ministry of grace.
- We will fast or abstain weekly.
Acts of Justice
- We will strive for unconditional love and acceptance of all God's children.
Acts of Devotion
- In order to care for our wholeness in body, mind, and spirit, we will schedule time each week for retreat, reflection, and renewal.
- Knowing that our bodies are the temple of God, we will prayerfully plan our work and leisure time.
Acts of Worship
- We will be in faithful attendance and participation in worship each Sunday.
- We will seek opportunities for worship at least once each week in addition to Sunday.
Conclusion
We therefore pledge our commitment to God and to the group that we will support one another in an encouraging and caring manner and that the choices we make in our daily journeys will enhance our growth as Christians, honor our Creator and Redeemer, and give us the will and the strength to keep this covenant.
